A Station to Station Guided Walk in Adrian Bell Country

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership will hold it’s next station to station guided walk Saturday 7 December starting at 10.40am. It’s a 6.75 mile through Adrian Bell Country from Brampton Station to Beccles Station.

This walk derives its name from East Anglian writer Adrian Bell who is associated with the village of Redisham; it is the closest community to the rail station. Bell farmed nearby in the 1940s before moving to Beccles and wrote the book ‘Apple Acre’ which is a charming, evocative and often amusing account of life and work in the local landscape of those times.

The route passes through the green parklands surrounding Redisham Hall, a delightful interlude in a predominantly arable countryside. Cattle often graze the Redisham Hall meadows, so keep dogs under close control.

There aren’t any places for refreshment along the way so please bring enough food and drink with you. There are plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat in Beccles where trains leave hourly in both directions at :25 past the hour.
