Connecting Communities mini-bus at Saxmundham rail station

A few of the more rural stations along the East Suffolk Lines are not served by a bus route; this can making travel to and from the station difficult for anyone without a car, bicycle, or those too far from the station to travel by foot. Suffolk County Council is working in partnership with Suffolk Community Transport Operators to help by Connecting Communities which is a demand-responsive service priced like a bus. You can book multiple journeys up to 14 days in advance, or as late as an hour before you travel (depends on availability of the bus in your area at the time for same-day bookings).

When you need to make a journey and there’s no public transport available to you locally, you’ll be collected and connected you to an appropriate rail station or bus route for onward travel so you can reach your destination quickly and easily. For journeys where connecting to other services is inappropriate, end-to-end journeys may be possible. For more information or to book your journey see the Connecting Communities page from Suffolk County Passenger Transport.
