Next Guided Walk – Friday 6 March at 10.50am

Lowestoft to Oulton Broad South – ‘The Easterling’

Option to continue to Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve visitor centre and café

4.5 to 6 miles – 2.5 to 4 hours

Led by Mary Moore with Stefania and Cheryl as part of your crew on the day

The Easterling Walk has so many different types of scenery and terrain that we consider it one of our most interesting rambles.

We’ll visit the UK’s most easterly point, pass through Sparrows Nest Gardens, the Naval War Memorial, and cross over the lovely restored Jubilee Bridge.

Our walk takes us along Great Eastern Linear Park, a fantastic green corridor which occupies the old railway line between Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

The route includes a walk along Lake Lothing and through Nicholas Everitt park at Oulton Broad. You can catch the train a few minutes away at Oulton Broad South station or continue with us to the fantastic Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve visitor centre where you can get a bite to eat.

The route is not step free. Please wear appropriate footwear as there are also uneven surfaces in some spots.

Toilets: each train has two toilets, there are toilets at Lowestoft rail station, Sparrows Nest, Normanston Park, Nicholas Everitt Park and Carlton Marshes visitor centre.

Lunch: Bring a picnic lunch or stop at the café at Carlton Marshes. If you’re planning on leaving the walk at Oulton Broad South station there are also places for food and drink at Nicholas Everitt park and in Oulton Broad.

Trains: 7:47 from Felixstowe. 9:16 From Ipswich.
