

We hold FREE station-to-station Guided Walks throughout the year. Your dog is welcome too and they travel free on the train. There’s no need to book. Just show up.

Saxmundham station to Snape & Aldeburgh incorporating The Sailors’ Path
10 miles (later/shorter 5.5 mile option via Wickham Market station; see below)

From Saxmundham station we’ll head south into the countryside The routes passes through the villages of Benhall Green and Gromford in a southerly direction to Snape Maltings which is our lunch stop. From here we join the Sailors’ Path heading due east. The Sailors’ Path is one of Suffolk’s most popular walking routes; it passes through heathland, lovel woodland and marshy meadows on the way to the North Sea at Aldeburgh.
Food: Bring snacks/drink for short stops along the way. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Snape Maltings or stop at the café or pub. There are many places for food and drink at the end of the walk in Aldeburgh.
Toilets: On the train, at Snape Maltings and at the end at Aldeburgh.

Later/Shorter Option using the Katch bookable busfrom Wickham Market Station.
For a 5.5 mile walk, book Katch from Wickham Market station (trains arriving 12.06 and 12.42) to Snape Maltings where the rest of the group will meet you between 12.30 and 13.15. The journey takes less than 15 minutes. Dogs are welcome on Katch.
Book on theKatch websiteor 01728 638939. Office hours are 8am – 4:30pm weekdays and Saturdays 09.00am – 12.30pm, (excluding Bank Holidays). Online bookings will be processed during office hours Monday to Friday Monday to Friday. The fare is £4 payable when you board via contactless card or cash. Concession passes are accepted on Katch. You can book up to two weeks in advance to as little as 45 minutes before you want to travel. Please book as early as you can to secure your space on the minibus.

Trains for the shorter option via Wickham Market using Katch

Travel back will be by bus
First Bus No. 64 runs every hour from Aldeburgh back to Saxmundham, a few minutes walk from the rail station, with onward connections to Woodbridge/Ipswich. The fare is £3.
Walk is free. No need to book the walk. Just show up. Dogs Welcome!
Advice if you plan to take part in our Guided Walks
- Wear stout, comfortable footwear and have waterproofs if wet.
- Bring refreshments (especially drink), a snack, or lunch for brief stops along the way.
- Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead.

- Be tick aware! Ticks can be encountered all year. Government advice on ticks is available here.
- No insurance cover is provided – all come at own risk.
