We hold FREE station-to-station Guided Walks throughout the year. Your dog is welcome too and they travel free on the train. There’s no need to book the walk. Just show up.

Brampton to Beccles
7.2 miles – 3 hours to 4 hours

The route between Brampton and Beccles travels from Suffolk’s most rural station to the lovely market town that is Beccles. In between we’ll traverse a lovely bit of peaceful countryside, past Redisham Hall and down into the quiet valley which is home to Ringsfield (Ringsfield Corner’s sister hamlet). From there we’ll climb in elevation as we make our way to Beccles.
The walk is named after journalist and farmer Adrian Bell who lived in Redisham and established The Times crossword puzzle.
We’ll have our lunch break at Ringsfield Corner.
Note: If you’ve been on this walk with us before we normally stop at Redisham Hall tearoom; we won’t be able to this time as they’ll be closed for winter.

Trains: 10.06 from Lowestoft – 9:16 from Ipswich – 7:48 from Felixstowe.
If coming from the Ipswich direction please buy a ticket to Beccles but alight at Brampton.
Trains home from Beccles: hourly at :24 both directions except at 17:15 to Lowestoft
Lunch: Please bring a snack and drink for short stops. Our Lunch stop will be at Ringsfield Corner where you can enjoy a picnic lunch or have something to eat at the nearby cafe / farm shop.
Toilets: each train has two toilets; there are no toilets at Brampton station. Toilets are located about halfway at the cafe at Ringsfield Corner and in Beccles, with tree cover along the way.
Advice if you plan to take part in our Guided Walks
- Wear stout, comfortable footwear and have waterproofs if wet.
- Bring refreshments (especially drink), a snack, or lunch for brief stops along the way.
- Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead.
- Check train times before setting on the National Rail Enquiries website or mobile app, or call 03457 48 49 50.
- Be tick aware! Ticks can be encountered all year. Government advice on ticks is available here.
- No insurance cover is provided – all come at own risk.
