Lowestoft is the easternmost railway station in Britain; it is located within the town centre; just across the street is the pedestrianised shopping district. The beach is just a few minutes walk from the station. Lowestoft is served by trains on the East Suffolk Lines from Ipswich and the Wherry Lines to Norwich. The station is staffed seven days a week.

Lowestoft station houses a public exhibition space in the old parcels office which can be hired for events and meetings. A visitor information point is located next door. Both are run by Station Regeneration East, a community interest company.
