Additional Improvements Set For Beccles Scheme

The East Suffolk Travellers Association reports that Network Rail has revised its plans for improvements at Beccles station. ESTA says CCTV will be included as part of the scheme, as will a bus interchange near the station, and a dedicated area for a ticket machine or ticket office if train operator National Express East Anglia decide one is needed in future. ESTA had pushed for the changes as part of its effort to continually seek improvements to local public transport.

The plans also include a new 15 space car park, contruction of a new shelter and seating on the platform, and a new station entrance slightly north of the present one. In addition landscaping will also feature as part of the scheme which is scheduled to begin in the Autumn.

Network Rail is the not-for-profit company which owns the tracks, signals, bridges, viaducts, and stations along the East Suffolk Lines.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION is taking taking place in early May. Mon 6/5, and Wed 7/5 though Sat 11/5 most services will run but there will be some cancellations. On Tuesday 7/5 there will be a full strike; NO services on the East Suffolk Lines or the other local/regional routes will operate that day. Mainline services to/from London will be reduced.
