ESTA had pushed for the changes as part of its effort to continually seek improvements to local public transport.

The plans also include a new 15 space car park, contruction of a new shelter and seating on the platform, and a new station entrance slightly north of the present one. In addition landscaping will also feature as part of the scheme which is scheduled to begin in the Autumn.
