Felixstowe Exhibition Promotes Days Out by Rail

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership has teamed with Visit Felixstowe and Felixstowe Travel Watch for an exhibition to highlight all the things to see and do in East Suffolk by train.

Located in the tourist information beach hut along the seafront opposite Felixstowe Town hall, the exhibition offers a wealth of leaflets and information about what’s on offer, local attractions and activities within easy reach of the rail network.

As part of the exhibition there will be a free prize draw for an East Suffolk Lines Family Day Ranger Ticket which is good for one day of unlimited travel Ipswich – Felixstowe and Ipswich – Lowestoft (via Woodbridge).

Suffolk County Councillor Graham Newman of the Community Rail Partnership said, “Now that restrictions have been lifted, we’re working really hard to attract people back to the railway to enjoy a more sustainable day out that doesn’t cost the earth and helps reduce congestion and pollution in our county’s town and village centres and tourist hotspots.”

Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Engagement Manager, Alan Neville, added, “And now that our brand new trains are running on the line, a day out by rail is an even nicer, more comfortable way to travel than sitting in traffic jams and car park queues.”

The mini exhibition is open everyday 11am to 3pm and runs through the bank holiday Monday 30 August.

As more people return to rail, Greater Anglia is seeing some trains and stations getting busier. More trains have been added to the timetable and customers are encouraged to use the full length of trains and platforms.

They are also advised to use the operator’s ‘Less Busy Trains tool’ at greateranglia.co.uk and opt for a quieter train.

Face covering compliance is high on trains and stations and trains are well ventilated either by air conditioning which replaces air inside the train every six to nine minutes or by open windows.
