For the fourth year running the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership is sponsoring a free bus link to connect rail passengers with Suffolk’s top folk festival.

Folk East is happening 16 – 18 August at Glemhall Hall which is three miles from Wickham Market Railway Station. To help bridge the gap rail passengers travelling to the event will be able to hop aboard a free shuttle bus that will take festival goers to Folk East and back again. More than 90 trains will connect with the bus between the afternoon of 15 August and the morning of 19 August.

The long-running festival promises a stellar line up across seven stages spearheaded by the legendary singer songwriter/guitarist Richard Thompson along with Karine Polwart and Cara Dillon.

This year the organisers are asking festival goes to bring their own reusable plastic bottles and instead fill up on-site. Single use plastic bottle drinks won’t be for sale as part of a commitment to run an environmentally friendly event; Folk East has attained gold level status by the Suffolk Carbon Charter. The rail/bus link is designed to further reduce the festival’s overall carbon footprint by encouraging the use of public transport.

The shuttle bus service will connect with Greater Anglia’s East Suffolk Line services between Ipswich & Lowestoft which are just one change from Norwich – London rail services and trains to and from Cambridge, Ely and Peterborough.
