Old Sleepers for New Planter at Westerfield

The volunteer adopters at Westerfield station were keen to utilise old sleepers to create a new planter for Lowestoft-bound platform.

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership teamed up with Network Rail to identify and make use of some redundant sleepers along the line near Woodbridge. Network Rail worked with Railscape, the firm that manages vegetation along East Suffolk Lines stations, to cut the sleepers to size and transport them to Westerfield.

Once at the station the adopters quickly assembled the sleepers into a planter and filled them with flowers.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION is taking taking place in early May. Mon 6/5, and Wed 7/5 though Sat 11/5 most services will run but there will be some cancellations.
