Radio Station to Spotlight East Suffolk Line

A local radio station is featuring the East Suffolk Line and the railway’s 150th Birthday all this week. Presenter Leslie Dolphin will devote part of her show each day to the history of the line, and what lies ahead for the 49 mile link between Ipswich and Felixstowe.

John Brodribb, who penned an Illustrated History of the East Suffolk Railway and the former the chairman of the BBC Radio Suffolk logoEast Suffolk Line Community Rail Partnership, is one the guests scheduled to appear. The programme will also talk to some of the people who now take care of the stations through the adopt-a-station scheme.

Radio Suffolk is looking for your memories of the East Suffolk Line, whether you worked for the railway, are an enthusiast, or just have a story to tell. You can ring the programme on 01473 21 21 21.

The special segments will air between 1 and 4pm from 14/12 to 18/12.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION is taking taking place in early May. Mon 6/5, and Wed 7/5 though Sat 11/5 most services will run but there will be some cancellations. On Tuesday 7/5 there will be a full strike; NO services on the East Suffolk Lines or the other local/regional routes will operate that day. Mainline services to/from London will be reduced.
