Christmastime Guided Walk

For the third year running the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership will be holding a festive guided walk during Christmastime.

Deben Estuary Circular

The walk this year takes place Saturday 28 December; it features a circular route starting at Woodbridge Station which will meander near the River Deben as it transforms from a wide navigable waterway to a mere shadow of its former self upstream.

Four Options

Ramblers will have four options varying from between 3 and 6.5 miles as after leaving Woodbridge at 10:40 there will be a short stop at Melton where others can join in at 11:15. The route then proceeds north to the quiet village of Ufford with its stunning church. At Ufford there will be a :20 to :25 minute break at the White Lion for a drink/snack – then back over the Deben via Bromeswell and Wilford Bridge with a optional finish at Melton Station, otherwise it’s on to Leek Hill Woods and Woodbridge where there are plenty of places for food and drink.

The full circular route from Woodbridge is 6.5 miles but it can shortened to 4.5 miles by ending at Melton Station on the way back. Those joining at Melton have a choice of a 3 mile circular or if choosing to finish at Woodbridge the walk will be 5 miles.
