Rail discount and free shuttle bus to the FolkEast festival

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership and Greater Anglia have teamed up with Suffolk’s FolkEast Festival to offer a travel discount for the annual festival held at Glemham Hall.

When two adults travel to the event together they can save a third off the price of their rail tickets, with children travelling for just £2.

The special discounted tickets must be booked in advance at https://railplus.greateranglia.co.uk/specials/community-rail-partnerships/folkeast-festival.html and are not available anywhere else.

Free Shuttle Bus from Wickham Market Station

A free shuttle bus will also be running between Wickham Market rail station and the festival site at Glemham Hall Friday 19 and Sunday 21 August 2022. For those helping out at FolkEast the shuttle bus will also run a limited service Monday morning 22 August.

Note: due to rail strikes Thursday 18/8 and Saturday 20/8 the shuttle bus will not run as trains will not be running on the East Suffolk Lines those days.

The free shuttle bus is partly funded by the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership which works in conjunction with the festival every year to encourage people to travel to the event by train, rather than pollute and clog the villages around the festival with cars.

Chairman of the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership, Aaron Taffera, said, “We’re delighted to work with Greater Anglia and FolkEast to make it really easy to get to the festival site using public transport – and thanks to the new addition of a third off the price of rail tickets, it’s excellent value too.”

Festival organiser, John Marshall Potter said, “We’re grateful to the East Suffolk Lines Partnership for funding the shuttle bus link for another year as it makes it so easy for festival goers to let the train take the strain and get them to the festival.

“This helps us to extend our green credentials in helping to reduce the number of vehicles using an already congested A12 and supports our aim to be one of the greenest festivals in Europe.”

INDUSTRIAL ACTION is taking taking place in early May. Mon 6/5, and Wed 7/5 though Sat 11/5 most services will run but there will be some cancellations. On Tuesday 7/5 there will be a full strike; NO services on the East Suffolk Lines or the other local/regional routes will operate that day. Mainline services to/from London will be reduced.
