Advice Issued to Cyclists for the Dunwich Dynamo 2025

Train operator Greater Anglia is advising cyclists taking part in the Dunwich Dynamo event that they will not be able to transport their bicycles back to London by rail after the event.

There are six cycle spaces on each of Greater Anglia’s Intercity trains – but this is not enough for the large number of cyclists who take part in the event, which takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July.

On Saturday 12 July, the usual six cycles per train rule will apply on the mainline; cyclists must reserve a space in advance on mainline services. Cycles without reservations will not be permitted to travel.

Six cycles will also be permitted on local services on a first-come first-served basis.

Bicycle Restrictions Sunday 13 July

On Sunday 13 July, cycles will not be permitted on Intercity services from Ipswich or on local services between Lowestoft and Ipswich or between Lowestoft and Norwich.

Bicycle Restrictions Monday 14 July

On Monday 14 July, cycles will be not permitted on local services between Lowestoft and Ipswich or the Wherry Lines between Lowestoft and Norwich.

Note: anyone travelling on Intercity services on the mainline will need to have a specific bike reservation as per the usual booking process.

James Steward, Greater Anglia Area Customer Services Manager, said:

“For the safety of our customers, we are unfortunately unable to support the Dunwich Dynamo 2025, as we cannot offer mass transit for the large number of cyclists involved.

“Cyclists are therefore advised to find an alternative way to transport their bikes back to London.

“We would like to thank the cyclists and organisers in advance for their cooperation and understanding.”
