Brand New Railcard

Two Together Railcard

The first new railcard in more than 25 years has been launched. National Rail, the collective name for all the UK’s train operating companies including Abellio Greater Anglia, has debuted the new ‘Two Together Railcard.’ It means travelling the East Suffolk Lines and beyond just got a whole lot cheaper.

What is it?

The new ‘Two Together Railcard’ does what it says on the tin: it allows two adults to travel together and save 1/3 off rail fares outside the morning peak of 4:30am to 9:30am Monday – Friday. The card is good the rest of the day and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Who is it for?

You don’t have to be partners to get your new railcard. The card is good for any two adults: you might have a best mate, a co-worker, a family member, it could be anyone who you like to make the same journey with. Have lots of friends? You can buy as many cards as you like but only two people can be named on any one card.

How does it work?

Use your card when you purchase tickets (all Standard, First Class Anytime, and Off-Peak Advance tickets qualify) and as long as you and the other person named on the card make the same journey at the same time you’ll save. Don’t forget to bring your card with you.

How much is it?

The new railcard costs just £30 (that’s £15 each) and it’s good for an entire year.

Show me an example

If you decide to buy an off-peak same-day return ticket from Lowestoft to Ipswich, the fare for two adults would be £17.30 each for a total of £34.60. Use your ‘Two Together Railcard’ and the total is now just £22.80 (a savings of £11.80). That means each ticket is now only £11.40. You each just saved £5.90. Make just two more of this particular journey and you’ve already more than paid for your card!

There’s more

National Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia have teamed with many retailers to offer savings like 2 for 1 deals in London and East Anglia along with many other great offers.

There are some exclusions. As mentioned above the card isn’t valid during the morning peak 4:30am to 9:30am Monday to Friday on Abellio Greater Anglia trains (other train operators might have slightly different times so check before you book). The card is also not valid for season tickets or rover tickets such as Anglia Plus. The ‘Two Together Railcard’ page has all the details.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION is taking taking place in early May. Mon 6/5, and Wed 7/5 though Sat 11/5 most services will run but there will be some cancellations.
