New Wayfinding Signage for Saxmundham Station

Passengers arriving at Saxmundham station are now greeted by new wayfinding signage thanks to a grant from Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund.
The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership received £5,100 for the project, which has seen smart new signage installed around the station and car park. The signs provide information about additional parking, onward public transport options, and the way to public toilets (providing both the step-free and stepped access routes)
The project also included replanting the area and the installation of a new train-shaped planter customised for the station.

Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Improvement Fund supports initiatives which deliver community benefits and enhance rail’s positive role in society.
From small-scale station enhancements to integrated transport projects, schemes to introduce new or disadvantaged groups to rail travel, education projects, biodiversity projects, arts or heritage schemes or new ways of promoting services among local communities, a wide range of ideas are eligible for funding. The key requirement is that ideas benefit both the community and the railway.
Thalia Woodgate, East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership Officer, said:
“Upgrading the signage at Saxmundham is a simple change that makes a real difference. Clear, easy-to-follow information helps people feel more confident using the station and planning their onward journey.
“It’s particularly important for passengers who may be less familiar with the network or who need step-free access, helping to remove barriers and make rail a more accessible choice for everyone.”
Scott Dolling, Greater Anglia’s Partnerships Manager, said:
“Projects like this show how relatively small improvements can have a big impact on the overall passenger experience.
“By working in partnership with local organisations, we can improve accessibility, strengthen local connections and encourage more people to choose rail, delivering real benefits for both the community and the railway.”
