New Young Persons Discount Card

Suffolk County Council is encouraging young people to get on board and pick-up a brand new discount card which gives them cheap travel across Suffolk and much more.

The new eXplore card (previously known as the Xcape Card) is available free to anyone aged 5 to 19 living in Suffolk, regardless of whether or not they are in full-time education. The card is valid for journeys that start in Suffolk even if they end outside the county.

Discounts include 50% off the following off-peak rail fares: Cheap Day single and return, Saver single and return, Anglia Plus – one day and three day. The card also gives a £2 discount on Super Advance tickets to London. There are also discounts on off-peak rail tickets to some destinations outside Suffolk including Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Diss, Ely, Harwich, Manningtree and Norwich.

Peter Meades of railway operator ‘one’ says “We’re delighted to be working with Suffolk County Council in promoting the new eXplore card across the County. Improving accessibility to our train services for young people is extremely important to us and this exciting new initiative also provides a great opportunity to attract the next generation of rail travellers, and encourage a greater market share for rail travel amongst this key group.”

The card also gives a minimum of 50% discount on normal adult fares on buses, and eXplore cardholders will also be able to get discounts and special offers at a range of leisure centres and shops. For more information and full details go to the eXplore website.
