The New Timetable

New Hourly Timetable

The new East Suffolk Line timetable comes into effect from Sunday 9th December.

This will see the commencement of an hourly service (starting Monday 10 December) on the whole of the East Suffolk Line between Lowestoft and Ipswich (presently the hourly service is only between Saxmundham and Ipswich).

The aim is to make using the train an even more useful and convenient option for travel, whether it be for business, work, or leisure.

The new timetable:

  • Provides and hourly service across most of the day, along the entire route, Monday to Saturday (Sunday services will remain every-other-hour).
  • Maintains the current peak services into and out of Ipswich and Lowestoft.
  • Improves the reliability or morning services from Lowestoft and Felixstowe into Ipswich.
  • Offers better connection times at Ipswich for trains to London Liverpool Street.

Note: in order to facilitate all the changes to the timetable most East Suffolk Line trains will no longer stop at Westerfield; for services to Westerfield easy connections are made at Ipswich.

Also: Brampton will become a request-stop station. If a passenger is waiting on the platform the train will stop. For passengers leaving the train at Brampton the conductor will know in advance when they check tickets whilst on board.
