Two Autumn Guided Walks

The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership is leading two Guided Walks this Autumn, one at the end of September and the other in mid-October.

Sunday 30 September – 11.05am

Brampton to Beccles – 6.75 miles – about 3.5 hours

The first walk is station-to-station, starting at Brampton station at 11.05am on Sunday 30 September and ending at Beccles. The ramble is known as ‘A Walk in Adrian Bell Country’ after Adrian Bell, an East Anglian farmer who lived nearby in the 1940s before moving to Beccles.

The walk passes through green parklands approaching Redisham Hall which itself is surrounded mainly by arable countryside. Cattle often graze the meadows around the hall. Plenty of food and drink is available at Beccles before heading to nearby Beccles rail station.

Saturday 13 October – 10.00am

Saxmundham to Aldeburgh – 9.5 miles – about 5 hours

Our second Autumn walk starts at Saxmundham station at 10.00am, first heading south and then turning east, picking up the Sailors’ Path. This is one of Suffolk’s most popular walks, going through open heaths, extensive woodlands and marshy meadows on the way to Aldeburgh’s many shops, pubs and eating places.

The booklet is available at Suffolk Libraries and many other locations across the county; you can also request a copy in the post, download the entire booklet as a PDF, or view and print each individual walk. There’s also a flip-the-pages version you can view right from your PC or smartphone. All the details and links can be found on our walks page.
