Improved Cycle Facilities

It’s always been easy to include cycling as part of your rail journey on the East Suffolk Lines. Each train has room for four bicycles and you can bring it along for free. Reservations aren’t necessary on any of Abellio Greater Anglia’s rural routes including the East Suffolk Lines although you are advised to reserve a space at peak times (reservations are required for InterCity services). Folding bikes may be carried on any train across the network at anytime.

Your Bike – Your Station

If you cycle to your local station and back there are facilities to either securely tether your bike at a stall, or stow it in a locker, right at the station. These facilities are available at all East Suffolk Lines stations and are free to use.

New Secure Cycle Park at Ipswich

At Ipswich station the old cycle stalls and lockers have be removed and instead replaced with a brand new dedicated cycle park. The secure facility is free to use (only requiring a £25 refundable deposit) and allows cyclists to use a key fob to gain access to their bike. Hire a Bike at the Station

If you don’t have a bike you now have more options at two East Suffolk Lines stations. Get where you want to go by hiring a bike!  The new ‘Bike and Go’ scheme is available at both Ipswich and Lowestoft stations and many other stations across the Abellio Greater Anglia network. For only a £10 a year subscription you’ll have full use of a bicycle for 24 hours for just £3.80. All you need to do is register and pay your subscription. You’ll then be issued with a smart card that you can scan at the station. Collect your key; collect your bike, and you’re on your way!
