Train operator Abellio Greater Anglia and the region’s official tourism organisation, Visit East Anglia, have launched a new campaign to boost Suffolk’s economy by attracting more visitors to the county.

Aiming to reach in excess of 350,000 potential visitors, the partnership has produced a dedicated brochure – ‘Discover Suffolk By Train’ – which is free and available from rail stations or online at www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/daysout, which aims to attract families and holidaymakers looking for fun-filled days out and Spring breaks.

The brochure contains a guide to the county’s best destinations for shopping, culture and heritage, restaurants, museums, zoos and attractions and the great outdoors. It also highlights the very best 2FOR1 offers valid in shops, restaurants, hotels, accommodation and attractions across Suffolk, which can only be used in conjunction with a valid train ticket.

The brochure directs holidaymakers to the Abellio Greater Anglia website, where you can download more than 100 savings vouchers to use when visiting Jimmy’s Farm, the National Horseracing Museum, Orwell River Cruises, Gainsborough’s House and RSPB MInsmere Nature Reserve, as well as many others.

The ‘Discover Suffolk By Train’ brochure is part of a series of four brochures highlighting the days out and short break opportunities in East Anglia, along with ‘Discover Norfolk By Train’, ‘Discover Essex By Train’ and ‘Discover Cambridge And Beyond By Train’. Each brochure contains a voucher booklet which can be used in conjunction with a valid train ticket. Vouchers can also be downloaded online from www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/daysout.

Lucy Downing of Visit East Anglia, said, “Suffolk is a fantastic place for a short break or holiday, whether you’re in search of a quiet get-away-from-it-all escape, a walking or cycling holiday, or a break brimming with culture, heritage and shopping.”

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Commercial Director, Andrew Camp, said, “The fast, easy links by rail mean your break is truly relaxing from the moment you leave home and with the great range of money saving offers and Advance fares from Abellio Greater Anglia, visitors can enjoy a Spring break for less.”

Further savings can be made with the ‘Friends and Family’ Railcard, Abellio Greater Anglia’s new ‘Two Together’ Railcard, or by purchasing Advance fares and GroupSave tickets (based on off-peak return tickets where three or four people travel for the price of two and accompanied children travel for just £1), which can be booked via the website at www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk.
