Mid May and Early June Strike Details – Additional Disruption 15 May through 20 May

The latest rail strikes are taking place 12 May, 13 May, 31 May and 3 June. In addition to these four days, action just short of a strike has now been announced which will lead to some cancellations next wee 15 May through and including 20 May. Please check before you travel.

Strikes Friday 12 May and Wednesday 31 May

No East Suffolk Lines Services: On 12 May and 31 May, there will be no services on the East Suffolk Lines and the other regional routes. There will be a reduced service on a limited number of mainline routes into London. Where services do run, they will start later and finish earlier than normal, with start/finish times varying across the network.

Strike Saturday 13/5

Two Hourly Service Ipswich – Lowestoft: On Saturday 13 May, the Ipswich – Lowestoft service will run a reduced frequency with services operating two-hourly instead of hourly. Some other Greater Anglia routes will also operate a reduced frequency but many will run a normal or near normal service. All services Saturday 13 May will operate between 07.00 and 23.00, with all last trains reaching their destination by 23.00. Rail replacement buses will run between Ipswich and Colchester, Ely and Cambridge, and Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge.

Next-Day Knock-on Effects

Some of the first services on Sunday 14 May, Thursday 1 June and Sunday 4 June may also be affected. Although these aren’t strike days, there will be some knock-on effects from the days before.

Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia managing director said: “We are very sorry that once again our customers will be disrupted by strikes. Customers are advised to check before they travel on all strike days, as the number of services affected varies, with trains operating on very few routes on 12 and 31 May, but on most routes and more frequently on 13 May. The rail industry is working hard to resolve these disputes and talks will continue with ASLEF and RMT to try and reach an agreement.”

Strike Saturday 3 June

Details of services operating on 3 June will be confirmed nearer the time.

Note: Engineering works will affect some regional and mainline services between Norwich and London on 3 June. Timetables will be released nearer the time.

Pre-booked Tickets and Passenger Assistance

Anyone who has pre-booked tickets to travel on strike days can change them, use them to travel on either the day before or up to two days later, or apply for a refund by going back to their original retailer.

Passenger assistance will be available as usual for all trains which are running. Anyone requiring assistance who cannot avoid travelling by train on strike days should plan their journey and book assistance in advance if possible.
