Social Distancing Measures at Ipswich Station

The current advice from Government is to avoid public transport, but there are some who aren’t able to work from home and have no other way to get to work.

To help maintain social distancing at stations Greater Anglia has taken measures that include closing some waiting rooms and cordoning off some seating. At Ipswich station floor markings and signage has been installed and a one-way system implemented at the ticket office, ticket machines, barriers and platform entrance.

Where necessary a system of queuing is being used to help control the number of people on platforms and in stations at any given time. Additional staff are also being deployed at some busier stations to help passengers follow the social distancing guidelines.

Greater Anglia has also implemented a stepped up cleaning regime, keeping station toilets open wherever possible, making sure soap dispensers are full and toilet paper topped up.

There are also measures on the train to help protect passengers; a full list and how you can do your part to keep yourself and others safe if you need to travel is available on the Greater Anglia website.
