Station Improvements and Schemes
A number of improvements have been made to the East Suffolk Line in recent years, including a new car park at Melton, and expanded car park at Wickham Market staion, and better bus-rail interchangemade at Halesworth, but this is just the start of a number of schemes that will now compliment the new hourly timetable from December 2012.
Station Refresh – All stations will see a fresh coat of paint and new signage in the livery of train operator Greater Anglia and the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail partnership.
Bus-Rail Interchange and Improved Car Park – Lowestoft station will benefit from the scheme as part of Suffolk County Council’s Local Sustainable Tranport Fund.
Real Time Information Screens – Oulton Broad South Station, funded by Suffolk County Council.
New Help Points – Halesworth and Melton stations.
New Car Park – Darsham Station in partnership with the Darsham Country Centre located within the station building, Suffolk County Council, and Suffolk Coastal District Council.
Automatic Ticket Machines – at Saxmundham and Woodbridge stations, allowing passengers to buy tickets with a credit or debut card, and also collect tickets that have been booked online.
Improved Car Park Lighting – Wickham Market station, which completes recently expanded car park, funded by Suffolk County Council.
Community Centre – Train operator Greater Anglia and the Community Rail Partnership are working to return the station building at Wickham Market to community use.
