The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership are hosting the first of its 2017 programme of guided walks on Saturday 21 January.

Starting from Westerfield Station and ending in the picturesque quayside town of Woodbridge, the nine mile ‘Fynn Valley in Winter Walk’ traverses some of the most picturesque countryside in East Anglia and there are outstanding views from the
National Trust’s property at Kyson Hill.

Participating in the walk is free of charge and open to the public with the ramble set to follow country footpaths, bridleways and tracks. The walk leaves Westerfield station at 10.04am following the arrival of 9:28 Greater Anglia train services from Felixstowe, the 9:58 train from Ipswich, and the 8:07 train from Lowestoft (change at Ipswich for the 9:58 to Westerfield)

The walk is being led by Eric Wallis and is expected to take around four and a half hours. All are welcome including well-behaved dogs with the route ending at Woodbridge Station; return trains run at 32 minutes past the hour to Lowestoft and 18 minutes past the hour to Ipswich.

Although refreshments are available to purchase in Woodbridge at the end of the walk, it is recommended that you bring along your own drink and snack, wear suitable footwear and waterproof clothing as the route could be muddy in places. All participants take part entirely at their own risk.

  • Finish time: Approx 14.30 with trains to Ipswich at :18 minutes past the hour and to Lowestoft at :32 minutes past the hour.

  • Equipment: Wear stout comfortable footwear and have waterproofs as the route could be muddy.
